A better solution for Parklands Avenue

Lane Cove Council have proposed a roundabout on Parklands Avenue to reduce illegal U-turns on Parklands Avenue in Lane Cove North. We have a number of concerns with this proposal, as it prioritises rat-running traffic turning from Landers Road into Parklands Avenue, gives legal priority to vehicles over pedestrians and cyclists (see road rule 72), encourages more traffic from Epping Road to make U-turns on Parklands Avenue, unnecessarily removes on-street parking, and would make it more uncomfortable to walk or ride a bike into the village.
We think a better solution would include raised pedestrian and bike crossings, curb extensions with landscaping, and a mini roundabout at Nundah Street. Read or submission here

Council's proposal for a roundabout that would prioritise rat-running from Landers Road, remove on-street parking, accommodate unsafe speed with large curb radii, prioritise vehicles over pedestrians (see road rule 72), and provide no improvements for people riding bikes.

Our proposed raised intersection with curb extensions, retains on-street parking, provides a better gateway treatment to the precinct, provides safer and more comfortable crossings for pedestrians, and a shared path for bike access.
